Volvo Enhances C40 Fully Electric SUV for 2024 with Extended 550km Range and Pixel Headlights

Kuala Lumpur, 28th February 2024 – Volvo's pioneering C40 Recharge Pure Electric, the brand's initial electric-only crossover SUV, undergoes significant enhancements for the 2024 model year. The upgraded model is now available for online reservations, featuring an extended electric range of up to 550km*, improved DC charging with a new battery pack, rear-biased power distribution, and the innovative addition of pixel headlights.

For the Malaysian market, Volvo Car Malaysia introduces the top-tier twin-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, showcasing a more potent second-generation permanent magnet rear electric motor developed in-house by the brand. This replaces the previous dual 150kW e-motor setup with an increased output of 183kW at the rear axle, complemented by a new 117kW asynchronous electric motor on the front axle. With a maximum power output of 300kW, this configuration emphasizes rear power delivery, ensuring an engaging driving experience.

The model's upgraded features also include an expanded 82kWh battery pack, up from the previous 78kWh capacity, accommodating a higher maximum input of 200kW for DC charging. This improvement enables a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 27 minutes**. Paired with the twin-motor configuration and efficiency enhancements in battery cooling, the updated Volvo C40 Recharge Pure Electric achieves a substantially improved range – an additional 100km compared to its predecessor*.
