Subang Jaya 2nd August 2024 – PROTON, the national automotive company, has officially revealed the name of its inaugural model under the new electric vehicle brand, e.MAS. This pioneering Malaysian EV will be called the Proton e.MAS 7, signaling a significant milestone in the nation’s automotive history.

As a C-segment SUV, the e.MAS 7 reflects PROTON’s dedication to supporting the Malaysian Government’s Electric Vehicle Agenda, which aims for national carmakers to introduce electric vehicles by 2025. While the official launch is scheduled for later this year, this name announcement and model preview emphasize PROTON’s proactive stance in leading Malaysia’s automotive sector towards sustainability.

Following the e.MAS brand announcement and the opening of 18 Proton e.MAS outlets in June, PRO-NET has now expanded its network to 29 outlets. A subsidiary of PROTON, PRO-NET plans to establish 25 e.MAS showrooms by the time the e.MAS 7 is publicly launched.

Introducing the Proton e.MAS 7 All-Electric SUV

Co-developed with Geely, the Proton e.MAS 7 is a versatile C-segment SUV designed for modern lifestyles, offering generous space and utility. It’s the first model to feature the advanced Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform, ensuring top-notch performance, handling, and comfort. Measuring 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height, and with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, it provides a spacious interior within a sleek, contemporary exterior.

This model is a product of extensive collaboration between PROTON and Geely, encompassing product strategy, engineering, design, production quality control, and local ecosystem development. Over one hundred PROTON engineers contributed to the project, ensuring it meets the needs of Malaysians and international markets.

The e.MAS 7 has undergone extensive testing, with 700,000 manhours and 10 million kilometres of testing to ensure its durability and reliability. This thorough testing guarantees the vehicle is road-ready and safe.

The e.MAS 7 features an always-on system, benefiting from continuous testing and updates, including improvements to navigation systems and enhancements to DHU and TSP services. PRO-NET’s team has also developed local telematics services for vehicle control, navigation, integrated charging, and the Proton e.MAS superApp, providing a seamless and customized experience for Malaysian customers.

The Proton e.MAS 7 features a world-leading 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system, setting a new standard in its class by integrating multiple functions into a single, efficient unit.
