Putrajaya 15th August 2024 – Nearly six years after its debut on December 12, 2018, Proton’s inaugural SUV has undergone a significant overhaul to lead the premium C-segment SUV market. Unveiled today at the Marriott Hotel, the 2025 PROTON X70 introduces extensive updates, including a refreshed exterior design, upgraded interior features, and advanced ADAS Level 2 safety technology. This model also marks the first time a Proton vehicle will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Since its launch, the PROTON X70 has transformed the Malaysian premium SUV landscape, becoming the preferred choice with over 100,000 units sold and earning seven prestigious awards over the past five years. Its global counterpart, the Geely Boyue, has also seen remarkable success, selling over 1.8 million units across 49 countries. The 2025 PROTON X70 aims to uphold this legacy with its advanced features and exceptional performance.

Innovative Design and Enhanced PerformanceContinuing the success of its predecessor, the 2025 PROTON X70 features a redesigned exterior with fresh styling elements and details. The new design includes a larger front grille adorned with songket-pattern elements around the Proton logo, flanked by new trapezoidal headlamps with 47 individual LEDs. A revised front bumper, fenders, and hood with twin power domes contribute to a more aggressive look, while a new rear bumper with a diffuser and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels complete the updated design.

Under the hood, the 2025 PROTON X70 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct injection engine produced at PROTON's Tanjong Malim plant. Generating 177PS and 255Nm of torque, it is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission for smooth and swift gear shifts, enhanced NVH levels, and a 4% improvement in fuel efficiency.

Refined Interior and Advanced Technology

The updated interior matches the new exterior with improvements in occupant comfort and advanced technological features. A new steering wheel, premium stone grey color options, and ambient LED lighting with 72 color choices are available in the Premium and Premium X variants. A new 12.3-inch floating screen with dual quad-core processing, 4GB RAM, and 32GB storage is standard across all variants, along with voice recognition via “Hi PROTON” and the Proton Intelligent Air Purifier System (PIAPS). Additionally, the 2025 PROTON X70 introduces wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a remote engine start feature through the Proton Link app.

Building on its pioneering role in Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS), the 2025 PROTON X70 offers ADAS Level 2 for the Premium and Premium X variants, featuring 13 active safety systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and more. All variants come equipped with six SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, ESC, TCS, Hill Hold Assist, and Hill Descent Control.
