Audi Launched First Local Assembled SUV in Malaysia.
• Audi Q7 S line makes history in Malaysia as first Audi SUV to be locally assembled
• Volkswagen Group’s Pekan plant is only Audi production facility in the Southeast Asian region

The decision to localise production comes amid growing demand for luxury vehicles in Malaysia, driven by rising disposable incomes, urbanisation and a shift in consumer preferences toward premium mobility solutions.
“By assembling some of our top-of-the-line vehicles here, we can offer customers more competitive pricing and shorter delivery times,” said Denyu Bostandzhiev, Managing Director of PHS Automotive Malaysia.
“With growing demand for D-segment SUVs, we believe that this is the right time to add the Q7to our range of Audi models to serve customers here and in the region. The signature Q7 will leadthe way for more line-ups in the premium luxury segment,” added Denyu.
The new Audi Q7 S line - a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV), priced between RM469,000 and RM489,000, is now open for booking, and is expected to launch next month.

The plant in Pekan is expected to also roll out other Audi models in the future, at a capacity of5,000 units per annum. An initial investment of over RM12 million, has been committed towards realising this vision, altogether strengthening the brand’s presence in the premium luxury segment in Malaysia. This investment is also aligned with the Malaysian government’s aspirations to position the country as a hub for high-technology, high-value manufacturing under its National Automotive Policy.
Kuala Lumpur, 24th April 2025 - Audi’s flagship SUV, the Q7 - entered its ‘start of production’ today - being the first Audi model in this segment to be locally assembled in Malaysia and theSoutheast Asian region.
The seven-seater Mild Hybrid Eclectic Vehicle (MHEV) is the first Audi model to be produced at the Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) assembly plant in Pekan, Pahang, which is also the onlyAudi production facility in and for the Southeast Asian region. This well-established, world-class plant already assembles Volkswagen models for the Malaysian market, together with DRB-Hicom as its Contract Manufacturing Partner
