2024 Enhanced Proton X50

Subang Jaya, 4th June 2024 – PROTON, the national automotive manufacturer, today launched the 2024 PROTON X50, showcasing the latest enhancements to its award-winning B-segment SUV model. This launch marks another milestone in PROTON's dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction. Since its debut in 2020, the PROTON X50 has sold over 110,000 units, securing its position as Malaysia’s top-selling SUV for the past four years. Its success mirrors that of the Geely Binyue, its left-hand drive counterpart, which boasts global sales exceeding 770,000 units. The 2024 model introduces a series of upgrades, promising a more advanced and refined driving experience.

Advancing PROTON’s Legacy of Comfort

The 2024 PROTON X50 builds on its predecessor’s legacy, setting new standards with enhancements based on customer feedback. A key upgrade is the new noise, vibration & harshness (NVH) package, improving road noise insulation in over 20 areas, resulting in a quieter, more refined interior. Premium and Flagship variants also feature a power tailgate for added convenience.

Enhanced User Experience

The 2024 PROTON X50’s 10.3” infotainment head unit (IHU) has been upgraded with a dual quad-core processor for faster bootup and loading times. This upgrade allows for smooth operation of multiple apps simultaneously, without lag. The system includes the popular “Hi PROTON” voice command and the PROTON Link app, which enables remote engine start and cabin cooling.

The SUV now features a High-Definition 360 Camera, providing clear images even in low light, making parking easier. Additionally, the Auto Park Assist function and a 3D surround view for safer lane changes up to 150 km/h enhance safety and convenience.

Performance and Safety

The 2024 PROTON X50 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged direct injection engine, delivering 177 PS and 255Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination allows for a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 7.9 seconds. Safety features include six SRS airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) level two, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Design and Aerodynamics

The Urus SE redefines SUV design with its updated lines aimed at optimizing aerodynamic efficiency. The new front hood design enhances the vehicle’s athletic style, complemented by matrix LED headlight clusters, a redesigned bumper, and front grill. At the rear, the redesigned hatch and new diffuser, inspired by the Gallardo, improve downforce by 35% at high speeds, enhancing stability.

Exclusive Offers for Early Buyers

The upgrades to the 2024 PROTON X50 add RM6,000 worth of value, with prices unchanged. For a limited time, the first 5,000 customers to register by 31 July 2024 will receive incentives up to RM8,500 under the Early Bird Package. The SUV also comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, a five-year data package with 1GB per month, and six free labour services.

Aerodynamic efficiency is further improved by new under-body air vents and revamped air ducts, increasing airflow to cool the mechanical and engine components by 15%. The new front design and optimized aerodynamic underside also enhance brake cooling by 30%.
