Kuala Lumpur, 17th February 2023 – The new GR Corolla is the latest member of the GR range, joining the GR Supra, GR86 and GR Yaris. With the GR brand's motorsport DNA, the GR Corolla promises to deliver on just what driving enthusiasts want – a hot hatch with high performance, agile and dynamic handling, and sporty looks.

Under the bonnet of the GR Corolla is the G16E-GTS 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine used in the GR Yaris. To provide equally high levels of performance with the larger model, the engine has been further enhanced to boost power output to 300 PS at 6,500 rpm and 370 Nm between 3,000 and 5,550 rpm.

Available only with an intelligent 6-speed manual transmission (iMT), the GR Corolla employs the GR-Four all-wheel-drive (AWD) system developed through TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s involvement in the World Rally Championship. The driver can choose from three drive modes and three AWD modes to tailor the performance to road conditions or personal preference.

For enhanced grip and stability, especially in slippery conditions, there is the support of a Torsen limited-slip differential on the front and rear axles. The large 18-inch black ENKEI alloy wheels are fitted with 235/40 high-performance Yokohama ADVAN Apex tyres.

The GR Corolla is easily identifiable as a member of the GR family with its functional form featuring an aggressive profile, widened fender flares, a carbon fibre roof, functional bonnet vents and sporty gloss-black accents. The larger and striking grille is flanked by side air ducts, while the rear triple-exit exhaust tips and aerodynamic spoiler make the GR Corolla's performance intentions clear.

Inside, the GR Corolla offers stylish comfort without sacrificing practicality and functionality. As with all GR and GR Sport models, the black theme is accompanied by red accents around the cabin. The body-hugging front seats immediately show that this is a car that wants to be driven hard, while the cross-sectional shaped leather-wrapped steering wheel takes operability into consideration, enhancing hand fit when driving.

The GR Corolla also comes with a high level of active safety features integrated in a suite called Toyota Safety Sense. Using a monocular camera and radar, these systems scan the road ahead to detect obstacles and hazards and can autonomously take action if the driver does not respond in time to prevent a collision. Seven SRS airbags are also available to provide protection in the event of a severe accident.

For clear and instant information for the driver, the GR Corolla incorporates a 12.3-inch full digital instrument display supplemented by a Head-Up Display. The digital instrument display welcomes the driver with GR start-up animation and shows the AWD mode, turbo pressure, gear shift position and other information.

While the driver is having his or her fun, the passenger can also enjoy entertainment from the infotainment system with a 9-inch touchscreen display. Wireless connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay brings many favourite apps from smartphones onto the screen where they can be accessed.

Comfort and convenience features in the GR Corolla include dual-zone climate control, wireless charger with USB charging ports together with smart entry and start.

For security, the GR Corolla has an optional Vehicle Telematics System which tracks its location. This will help in recovery if it is stolen. There is also the front Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Toyota Premium Security and Solar Film feature as standard.
