Volvo Car Malaysia Launches Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre

Volvo in Malaysia will provide the highest quality and safety standards of complete body repair and paint service

Kuala Lumpur, 8th September 2022Volvo Car Malaysia introduced its first dedicated body repair and paint service facilities through the launch of the Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre (VCDR). Now available at Federal Auto Cars, Glenmarie and Sime Darby Swedish Auto, Ara Damansara, customers will enjoy an end-to-end high quality body repair and paint service.

Nick Connor, Head of Volvo Cars APEC, was present with Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Cars to officially launch VCDR in both locations.

“We are very happy to be able to witness the milestones that Volvo Car Malaysia has achieved thus far,” said Nick Connor. “From the implementation of global’s electrification strategy to selling out the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, here we are today, launching Volvo Car’s VCDR to further realise our vision in offering the highest standards of after-sales care to our customers. We are very happy that through the investment made by our partners, Malaysia is now the second country in the region to introduce VCDR.”

VCDR enhances a customer’s after-sales experience. Focusing on providing quick and efficient body repair and paint services, it is managed by a cost-effective resource management that ensures overall business agility. The overall repair quality is committed using advanced tools and equipment combined with strict adherence to the standard Volvo processes.

“We want our customers to walk away with a Volvo car in complete peace of mind knowing that we are ready to provide them with Volvo’s international standard of care for their vehicles,” said Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia. “By introducing VCDR within our dealer network, it enables our customers to enjoy vehicles that provides them a lifelong lifespan.”

Equipped with the latest technology and trained technicians, Federal Auto Cars Glenmarie, and Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint Centre are the first two Volvo service centres in Malaysia to be aligned with the VCDR standards. Measuring at 11,133 square feet, each of these facilities can handle up to a volume of 1,260 vehicles per year.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Retail and Distribution of Sime Darby Motors Malaysia commented: “We aim to continue delivering the best quality service and offerings to our customers. This includes ramping up the sustainability of our operations to minimise environmental impact, while maintaining service excellence. As such, we are pleased to adopt the VCDR standard for Volvo vehicles at our Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint facility, in line with our Environment, Social & Governance’s initiative to lower carbon transition, continuously invest in solutions and inspire meaningful change.”

The VCDR standard integrates the use of sustainable technology for their body and paint repair services, such as a low-pressure ventilation system with automatic controls that reduces the emission of carbon dioxide, emission of microscopic particles, and energy consumption. Additionally, the machinery utilises batteries when heating the electric system, and more than 80% of the air will be sucked in through a filtration system that reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in paint is now replaced with a water-based paint, reducing employee’s exposure to hazardous chemicals.

"Being an integral part of the Volvo network in Malaysia, we are committed towards delivering excellent service quality and safe vehicles to our Volvo customers through our investments and continuous improvement of every aspect of our operations. In today's environment, we place as much if not more emphasis on climate sustainability in our business strategies and decisions. We, therefore, wholeheartedly embrace the entire VCDR concept for its environmentally friendly equipment, as well as efficient workflow and processes,” said Wong Fay Lee, Chairman of Federal Auto Holdings Berhad.
