8 CITIES ART MEETS PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION 2019

Kuala Lumpur, 7th December 2019 – Malaysian Advanced Photographer Group (MAPG) is collaborating with Taiwan Hualien County Government Cultural Bureau to exhibit multi-cultural visual art forms from calligraphy, painting to photography - “8 CITIES ART MEETS PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION 2019”. The opening of the exhibition will be officiated by The Director of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Mr. Frank Chen and Malaysia representative, Member of Parliament, YB Wong Tack on 7th December 2019, 11:00 am at Heritage House in Petaling Street.

A total of 36 artists consisting of 20 artists from Malaysia, 1 from India, 1 from Iran, 1 from Spain, 10 from Taiwan, 1 from China Hong Kong and 2 from Korea will be exhibiting their creations. In this exhibition, we have junior and senior artists that range from 20 years old to 71 years old. 90% of the Malaysia artists are having their first exhibition.

MAPG was established in September 2017, as a privately funded group to encourage photographers in Malaysia to further passion and creativity and to provide opportunity for them to exhibit their work.   The group organizes activities, workshops, exhibitions from time to time to develop its members. The main highlights of its activities were the Annual Power Talk in 2018 and 2019.  In these events, photography as fine art was shared and discussed and selected members had the opportunity to be coached and presented their work”, “two of our MAPG members had been invited to present at the 2018 Bangkok Photo Fair”.  As part of the exhibition events in 2018 we also invited Etienne Bossot, a renowned travel photographer based in Hoi An, Vietnam to share tips on travel photography.

ENTERTAINMENT

The motto of MAPG is “Give your image a chance for Greatness". MAPG is a platform for artists to create and showcase their artistic works with the aim to increase the awareness and appreciation of photography as fine art. This in turn will help to increase the value of photographic works and encourage photography as a sustainable pursuit.

In 2018 two solo exhibitions were held, “Imaginations from my Escapade” in June 2018 by Barry Ong and “Mother Nature” in September 2018 by KF Choy. Accompanying our photographers, Ms SL Koh is the great painting artist in MAPG that have 12 solo exhibitions in the last 30 years and had been recognised as one of the outstanding Malaysian Chinese artists by Chinese Assembly Hall, KL in 2014.

• “8 CITIES ART MEETS PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION 2019” is a collaboration between MAPG and Taiwan Hualien County Government Cultural Bureau, to promote a multi-cultural visual art, consists of calligraphy, paintings and photography from 36 artists from 8 different cities.

• The event was officiated by the Director of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Mr. Frank Chen and Malaysia representative, Member of Parliament, YB Wong Tack on 7th December 2019, 11:00 am at Petaling Street Heritage House, 196 Jalan Tun H. S. Lee, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

• MAPG is a privately funded group to for photographers who are passionate in advancing their photography creatively and exhibiting their work as Fine Art Photography.

MAPG is a closed group on Facebook with membership below 100 to enable it to focus its efforts and resources in nurturing members who have demonstrated very high level of commitment, passion and talent in advancing into fine art photography.

MAPG will continue to motivate and encourage the member to produce art photography and in this exhibition there are 3 artists being rewarded with Lo & Wu holding collection of Eric Peris and En. Nadzmi Malaysian Iconic photographer's works :
