Kuala Lumpur 9th July 2024 – Lexus Malaysia charges into the EV (electric vehicle) segment with the launch of the all-new, all-electric Lexus RZ 450e Luxury. This marks Lexus' first globally available, purpose-built battery-electric vehicle (BEV), delivering zero-emission driving and a dynamic driving experience, all wrapped in a distinctive design.

Blending sustainability with personalized luxury and leveraging Lexus' renowned craftsmanship, the new RZ aims to set a new standard in the luxury EV market. “The RZ 450e Luxury is quintessentially a Lexus. It retains the high performance, technical mastery, and attention to detail that have defined the brand since 1989,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of Lexus Malaysia.

As the first BEV developed from the ground up to be fully electric, the Lexus RZ builds on the brand’s extensive experience in electrified mobility. This new model aligns with Lexus' global electrification strategy, aiming for 100% BEVs worldwide by 2035. The "More Than Electric" ethos underscores Lexus' commitment to offering a range of luxury EVs and HEVs that positively impact the planet and society.

The all-new, all-electric Lexus RZ 450e brings the Lexus Electrified vision to life, first announced with the LF-30 concept car at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. This vision seeks to achieve a fundamental leap in vehicle performance, handling, control, and driver enjoyment through electrification technologies.

Electrifying Design

With the RZ, Lexus has leveraged the design freedoms of BEVs to create a vehicle that stands apart from conventional SUVs. As Lexus’ first 100% battery electric vehicle, the RZ pushes the boundaries of the electrified luxury SUV experience. Its design reflects the "Next Chapter" of Lexus design, characterized by the “SEAMLESS E-MOTION” concept, inspired by the cheetah's dynamic movement.

Sporty and athletic, the RZ features a low hood line, dynamic form, and muscular wheel arches that emphasize optimal airflow management and aerodynamic efficiency. Although the iconic Lexus Spindle Grille is absent, the RZ retains its Lexus identity with the new BEV Spindle Body design.

The RZ is available in six striking exterior colors, including the new Aether Metallic, inspired by clear blue skies, and other vibrant options like Sonic Copper, Sonic Chrome, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Sonic Quartz, and Sonic Iridium.

Sustainable Elegant Interior

Inside, the RZ showcases Lexus’ human-centered design and advanced technologies. The cockpit evolves from the Lexus Tazuna Concept, concentrating driving-related controls around the steering wheel for intuitive driving. The HUD (Head-up Display), meter, and center display are arranged to ensure a seamless line of sight.

The minimalist cabin design, featuring shift-by-wire paddle shifters and a dial-type shift knob on the center console, accentuates the spacious and luxurious environment. The center console, adorned with Tsuyasumi ornamentation, offers a shiny charcoal effect created through advanced film technology combined with TAKUMI craftsmanship.

Key interior features include the Lexus Climate Concierge, S-Flow Control with nanoe™ X air purification technology, and an ambient lighting system with 64 colors for customizable in-cabin illumination. Sustainable Grayscale Ultrasuede® seats, made partly from biomaterials, deliver a high-quality suede effect with durability and a tactile feel. The seat and door ornamentation upholstery also use sustainable suede, incorporating recycled PET.

The RZ’s entertainment system includes a premium 13-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound System, delivering high-quality sound reproduction across all music genres.

Energizing Performance

The RZ is the first Lexus model to utilize the newly developed e-TNGA platform, allowing efficient packaging of the electric drive system, reduced weight, optimized mass placement, and improved rigidity. A 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers the vehicle, offering up to 440 km (WLTP) on a full charge. The battery pack can be charged with either AC (up to 11 kW) or DC (up to 150 kW) power.

The dual-motor setup of the RZ, with 150 kW at the front and 80 kW at the rear, delivers a total power output of 230 kW. The model features Lexus’ new DIRECT4 intelligent all-wheel drive control system, enhancing the signature Lexus Driving experience characterized by Confidence, Control, and Comfort.

Safety is paramount in the all-new RZ, equipped with the 3rd generation Lexus Safety System + (LSS+) for world-class safety performance. The vehicle’s frame, enhanced for impact absorption, provides exceptional collision protection. The advanced Lexus Teammate Advanced Park system uses Parallel View Monitor (PVM) cameras and ultrasonic sensors for effortless parking.
