| TOYOTA HILUX GR SPORT

Kuala Lumpur, 17th February 2023 – The Hilux is already well known for toughness and superior off-road capabilities, making it the best- selling pick-up truck in Malaysia for more than 20 years running. The range is now joined by a sporty and performance-oriented Hilux GR Sport variant which benefits from GAZOO Racing's experience in motorsport, especially the gruelling Dakar Rally.

Similar in general specifications to the locally-assembled Hilux Double Cab 2.8 Rogue, the Hilux GR Sport comes with a new front grille together with grille frame and overfenders finished in the body colour. The foglight surrounds, door mirrors and sport bar are blacked out for a bolder, sportier image.

The 18-inch alloy wheels, which have an exclusive design for the Hilux GR Sport, are fitted with 265/60R18 Highway Terrain Tyres. Behind the wheels, the calipers for the front disc brakes are painted red and comes with the GR Logo.

Customers can choose from three body colours – Super White II, Attitude Black Mica or Crimson Spark Red Metallic – with black and red body side and tailgate graphics inspired by the liveries of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s competition vehicles.

The Hilux GR Sport not only looks sportier but also delivers enhanced driving performance. Its sports suspension system uses dedicated monotube shock absorbers and retuned coil springs. The higher damping force and optimal front-rear suspension balance give outstanding handling, increased stability during cornering and precise steering response.

Exclusive to the Hilux GR Sport are paddle shifters, this marks the first time that a Hilux has such a feature that gives the driver more control for a sportier feel and drive. Also different from the Hilux Rogue are the front seats which have a different structure for a sportier feel. They are covered with a combination leather seat material and have suede and red upper bolsters.

As with other GR variants, red stitching can be seen in many areas around the cabin with GR logos on the headrests, leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-start button and Smart key fob. The Optitron meters on the instrument panel have a GR theme with red accents and a GR welcome animation. Aluminium sports pedals are also installed for this variant.

Like the Hilux Rogue, the Hilux GR Sport also comes with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), a suite of active safety systems which assist the driver and can also autonomously take preventive action such as braking if a collision might occur. TSS includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control which can adjust the set cruising speed to maintain a safe gap from vehicles ahead.

As the Hilux GR Sport is a long-body vehicle, there are reverse sensors as well as a reverse camera to help the driver during parking. The optional Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) provides a 360-degree view using 4 cameras mounted around the vehicle. This can be very useful during parking, especially in tight areas.

The Hilux GR Sport is powered by the proven 1GD-FTV 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces 204 PS at 3,400 rpm and generates 500 Nm of peak torque between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. The drivetrain consists of a 6-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with Sequential Shift and a robust 4x4 system which can be activated and deactivated on-the-fly using a rotary switch.

For improved traction and stability in off-road conditions, an Automatic Limited Slip Differential, Active Traction Control and rear differential lock are also included in the Hilux GR Sport.
