Kuala Lumpur, 26th April 2022 - With both Singapore and Malaysia easing travel restrictions between the two countries, 2022 marks the return of travel for Malaysian travellers visiting Singapore. Since border reopening on April 1, ShopBack data indicates that demand for travel to Singapore has increased by 3-fold.

To meet the growing travel demand, ShopBack announces the ‘Singapore is Calling’ initiative in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board and key travel merchants Agoda and Booking.com. The initiative will see users of ShopBack enjoy a 15% upsized cashback when booking hotels in Singapore via Agoda and Booking.com, key Singapore attractions and other travel necessities. ShopBack sees a 350% increase in demand for Singapore travel since April 1 border reopening

ShopBack partners with Singapore Tourism Board and key merchants to stimulate travel and help consumers stretch the ringgit further on their Singapore getaways

The enthusiasm for travel to Singapore is in line with the long-awaited reopening of borders and the pent up demand for embracing new travel experiences in Singapore. While internal data shows that demand for travel experiences in Singapore continues to grow exponentially, there is also the need for choice and value to complement their travel needs.

Eddy Han, General Manager, ShopBack Malaysia, said, "After two years of travel restrictions, travellers are now making plans to travel again. Whether it's an avenue of escape after not being to travel, to visit friends and family or simply as a way to reimagine travel once again, we see international travel ready to regain its footing after two years of challenges. With the collaboration, we are pleased to connect our wide variety of merchant partners to our users and help ease their budget concerns and embrace these new experiences positively."

Expenditure on hotels remains one of the most considerable bulk of travel expenses, with 80% of purchases via ShopBack constituting accommodations in Singapore. The ‘Singapore is Calling’ campaign will see support from Agoda and Booking.com to stimulate and reactivate travel from Malaysia to Singapore with access to close to 1,000 hotels ranging from budget accommodation to luxurious stays in Singapore. The limited time 15% upsized cashback on accommodation, activities and more would allow visitors to enjoy savings that can be used for other experiences in Singapore.

In addition to hotels, users will also enjoy upsized rewards on flights, activities, buses, and other travel services via ShopBack with partners like Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Klook, redbus and more.

ShopBack have also recently launched attractions tickets to enable travellers to complete their itinerary in Singapore. Attraction tickets are exclusively available on the ShopBack App where users can purchase tickets directly on the app to receive the e-Ticket and enjoy upsized cashback on their purchase to maximise savings. Some of Singapore's most popular attractions include Universal Studios Singapore, Marina Bay Sands, and Madame Tussauds.

Lee Jian Xuan, Area Director for Singapore Tourism Board, Malaysia (STB) commented, "We are pleased to support the promotion of ShopBack’s campaign to support travel resumption between Singapore and Malaysia, as our borders are fully reopened with no quarantine for fully vaccinated visitors. This collaboration will entice travellers to explore and enjoy the reimagined experiences in Singapore, from our new wellness concepts to our refreshed attractions.”

The Singapore is Calling campaign will run from 25 April to 8 May 2022.
