A powerful driving performance: The new locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG cars

Kuala Lumpur, 28th June 2022 – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) today introduced the new locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC and the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC, further cementing its local footprint in Malaysia. Continuously setting standards in the luxury market, these vehicles marks the entry into the exciting world of Mercedes-AMG Driving Performance – sporty, emotional and packed with driving pleasure.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine in both vehicles boast spontaneous response to accelerator pedal commands, high tractive power (400 Nm max. torque from 3000 rpm), a supremely lively response and an engine sound typical of AMG. The engine produces 306 horse power and a remarkable 400 Nm of torque. Combined with Mercedes-AMG specific 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, the A 35 4MATIC accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, and 5.2 seconds with the GLA 35 4MATIC. The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT in both vehicles guarantee a powerful yet comfortable drive.

Compact yet sporty: the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Sedan.

The locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC sedan has enhanced equipment compared to its fully imported predecessor. The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC now comes equipped with the Parking package with a 360-degree camera, Head-up display, and AMG steering buttons that enhance the driving experience. Additionally, the vehicle witnesses the addition of the KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package, Wireless Charging and the MBUX Interior Assistant for a new dimension of driver convenience.

On the exterior, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC is complemented further by 19” AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels including a wider wheel arch for the AMG specific wheels. It is available in Polar White, Cosmos Black, Iridium Silver, Mountain Grey and Denim Blue.

The new Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC embraces power yet exemplifies luxury. On the inside, the vehicle is covered in optional ARTICO man-made leather or DINAMICA microfiber black and features highlights of the Aluminium AMG Design trim elements in black or silver.

The sporty interior continues with the AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather with AMG steering wheel buttons, enjoyed further in the comfort of the sports seats with electrically adjustable front seats. These seats are complemented by MANUFAKTUR seat belts in red, in line with the AMG personality.

Other notable key features include Burmester® surround sound system accompanied with the latest communications module (LTE) for the use of Mercedes me connect services which is complemented by the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system.

Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC‘s assertive exterior design makes a clear statement and reveals at first glance that it belongs to the distinctive AMG family. The signature AMG radiator grille with vertical louvres and the signature AMG front apron with front splitter and lateral louvres featuring silver chrome trim immediately underscores the self-assured, dynamic character of the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC.

Eye-catching features when viewed from the side are the 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matte black with high-sheen rim finish and the door panels with inserts in silver chrome. The striking AMG rear apron with two round tailpipe trim elements, the AMG spoiler lip and the slim, two-section rear lights lend an impression of breadth to the GLA's rear.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC is complemented further by 20” AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with MULTIBEAM LED headlights featuring Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus with the standard electrically folding and adjustable exterior mirrors. It also features polished aluminium roof rails and a surround lighting with projection of the Mercedes-Benz logo.

The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC is available in Polar White, Cosmos Black, Iridium Silver, Mountain Grey and Denim Blue.

The new addition to the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia portfolio also includes folding rear seat backrests, and the THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control for an even more relaxed drive. The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC features the Light & Sight package and as standard, the 64 colour ambient lighting with an auto-dimming interior mirror and driver’s exterior mirror function. The vehicle is further enhanced with the AMG lettering illuminated with an exchangeable cover, AMG floor mats and a stowage compartment in the centre console with a retractable cover.

The safety of the passengers always remains a priority at Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC will include the parking package with a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, the Lane Tracking Package, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Exit Warning Assist, and Active Brake Assist. For further convenience, the vehicle will also include the KEYLESS-GO Comfort-package and HANDS-FREE ACCESS with KEYLESS-GO.

Adding to the safety of the vehicle, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC will also include the EASY-PACK tailgate, and the URBAN GUARD vehicle protection with an Anti-theft alarm system, and an interior monitoring system that can be viewed from the drivers Mercedes me app. The new addition will also have Kneebag, and rear seat belt status indications in the instrument display along with TIREFIT and a tyre pressure monitoring system for always staying one step ahead.

The combination of sporty design and sophisticated details featured characteristic touches include the sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber in black with contrasting top-stitching in red and red seat belts to the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather with flattened bottom section and the AMG steering wheel buttons let you take the authentic racing feel to the extreme.

In the interior, the AMG hand comforter in the centre console, with integral buttons for operating the manual transmission mode, 3-stage ESP® and AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension for the driving dynamics functions already hints at the enormous technical potential, even when the vehicle is stationary.
