"With the launch of Global Colour Collections 2023, we have created a canvas of colours to help you discover and share your own stories at home. To further our cause, we are very proud to be able to work with Jun Ong, Co-Founder of POW Ideas and Ee Soon Wei, Chief Executive Officer of Art Printing Works (APW) to transform APW’s space to help showcase #JotunColourStories to the public.” Jotun’s Global Colour Manager Lisbeth Larsen said.

Speaking with CEO of APW Ee Soon Wei, he said, “It has been a pleasure to work with Jotun and POW Ideas to use this space to bring colours to life and to be able to tell a story. From the moment you walk in, you are immediately taken into a world filled with its own specific theme and story. We were inspired by Jotun’s vision on wanting to tell a story with colours and paint to its partners and the public and knew that we had to do what we could to help materialise #JotunColourStories.”

“When we first heard from Jotun on wanting to create a space to tell with colours and paint, we knew this was something worth exploring. We are always hungry for new ideas and collaborations to help brands tell their own tales to their audience. After several discussions, we helped curate this space at APW to tell the story. We wanted to showcase how each colour theme was in fact very much different from each other. Each theme speaks its own story – one for the mind, one for the body and one for the soul. We are proud of the outcome and we hope everyone who visits the space will be able to immerse themselves in this space with #JotunColourStories.” Co-Founder of POW Ideas Jun Ong said.

The new colours have been divided into groups of seven, along with existing shades from the Jotun archive to create three perfectly blended colour collections. These unique collections capture different moods and modes of expression, thus, enabling people to easily combine complementary and contrasting shades within each collection. This is to create coherent interiors that tell stories about the home and those who live there. Larsen and her team monitor the moods and mindsets of people, cities, and societies around the world. These three themes reflect one of the key findings and strong current sociocultural tendencies. The serenity of simplicity, the consolation of nature, and the comforting nostalgia of a beautifully curated lifestyle.

In line with helping people to fuel their bodies, feed their minds, and fulfill their souls, Jotun will be hosting a month-long activation from 3rd November to 4th December at The Paper, APW Bangsar where visitors can drop by and visit the exhibition for live colour consultations with in-house colour experts, or find motivation. Be filled with live music by local artists, workshops to curate scents to complement the colours of your home, and sharing sessions on creating your dream living space.

Focused on minimalism and simplicity, this palette has been designed for cleansed, clutter-free lifestyles. Colours are soft, gentle, and meditative, creating a pared-back spa-like atmosphere that helps you focus and keeps you centered.

“The home should be a place of healing,' Larsen says. ‘A sanctuary where the mind feels at ease and the soul is lifted. Colour plays a powerful role in this sensory landscape, setting the mood and bringing us joy.”

The colours in this palette connect us to the natural world, celebrating rustic lifestyles, the crafted artefacts, and the beauty and character of imperfection. These calming landscape shades are ideal in giving interiors a farmhouse- chic aesthetic – or bringing a touch of countryside into the heart of the city.

Larsen notes, “Nature is an inherently calming influence. Even in the most buzzing city, we can still create spaces that conjure the peace of the natural world and the refreshing simplicity of rustic life.”

A balanced and curated combination of nostalgic tones and contemporary colours, this timeless palette is perfect for cultivating a home-as-art-gallery feel. It’s a confident blend of tradition and modernity conducive to truly personal creative expression.

“Our aim with this palette was to channel the comfort of nostalgia, without getting stuck in the past,’ Larsen says. ‘By combining some antique touches with a modern sensibility, we’ve created an artistic and sophisticated family of colours.”

With Jotun’s new Majestic Sense, be ready experience the best of both worlds at home – a blend of beauty and healthy living. The premium interior paint is specially formulated to purify indoor air quality with its Clean Air Technology and create a space that is more comfortable to live in. Of the 21 shades featured in this year’s Colour Card, 9 are new to the Jotun collection. Jotun’s dedicated colour technology lab in close collaboration with Larsen and her team, has created and developed a unique palette of colours ranging from smooth warming neutrals to natural, calming greens and rich, statement reds.

She added that, “For many of us, the role of the home and what we expect from it has shifted in recent times. It used to be a sanctuary that we returned to and relaxed in, but now we spend more time at home, we expect even more from it. It has become a place of work, play, rest, and reconnection. Jotun’s new Global Colour Collections responds to this by encouraging people to let their homes reflect what matters most to them. To choose colours that inspire them, whatever they are doing. To step back and create from the heart.”

LIFESTYLE

Kuala Lumpur, 31st October 2022 – The colours we surround ourselves with matter more than ever – both in terms of what they say about us, and how they make us feel. Many of us are taking a step back to reevaluate what matters in our lives, and colours are a core component to our personal wellbeing and in how we define ourselves.

Jotun recently launched their latest Global Colour Collections for 2023 anchored by an overarching theme of Stories at The Paper, APW Bangsar. The newest tones and themes have been purposefully designed to inspire a creative ambiance within the living space, and provide users with the opportunity to define themselves through the new colour trends. The 21 colours featured are timeless and not trend driven, but chosen for their positivity, honesty and versatility. In their unique way, they introduce an element of joy into the home.

“Colours allow us to express our thoughts, emotion and actions – it is part of our lives and it is the foundation that helps curate our living spaces. As our lifestyles and priorities change with time, we often look within to find our centre and purpose, and this reflection often takes place at home; where we feel safest, where we experience true recalibration and where we create the most authentic stories of ourselves. We were inspired to create #JotunColourStories because being in the business of colours, we recognise that a home brushed with timeless, honest and rich colours can allow our wellbeing to be subtly influenced, where our mind, body and soul are nourished and connected.”
