Soothe your senses in the Garden City

Follow Malaysian TV Presenter and influencer Amanda Chaang to find out how to make your travel experience in Singapore a self-care vacation.

If you are a traveller looking to prioritise your self-care and well-being, then Singapore – the Garden City, filled with an assortment of traditional and innovative wellness offerings and experiences, is perfect for you to get the rest and rejuvenation you need.

To inspire travellers to embrace self-care through travel, the Singapore Tourism Board has teamed up with Malaysian TV presenter and influencer Amanda Chaang. In episode three of Chic in the City, a four-part video series available on the Visit Singapore MY FB Page, Amanda embarks on a journey to uncover self-care benefits through two wellness offerings from Singapore. In this episode, she tries out Singapore’s artisanal perfume label, Scent by SIX, to discover the function of fragrances in transforming one’s well-being and she learns about the psychological benefits of taking care of one’s skin with Singapore’s mindful skincare, RE:ERTH.

Indulging in a relaxing, revitalising scent is a self-care ritual which calms, relaxes and offers any stressed-out urbanite peace of mind. When Amanda made her way to Scent by SIX, Singapore’s artisanal perfume label, she learned from founder Jason Lee, Scent by SIX’s founder and CEO, about how the right fragrance has the potential to calm, heal and foster mental wellbeing and that “when we smell fragrances, there’s a strong connection to our emotions, memories and six senses.”

Recently, Jason brought this inspiration to introduce a signature scent named “Batik Flora” for Singapore Airlines in a much anticipated bucket-list collaboration. He shared he was most excited to work on ‘Batik Flora’ with his team as it was his goal to work with the airline since the inception of Scent by SIX in 2017, to put the local brand on the international stage. Today, Scent by SIX continues to develop house scents that aim to create immersive spaces that evoke an emotional experience for everyone.

A good skincare routine does wonders and helps you feel more confident and comfortable. This is what Amanda learned when she visited RE:ERTH, an eco-friendly company in Singapore that follows Japanese philosophies and principles of skincare.

RE:ERTH’s founder and COO, Ziling shared that “healthy skin is beautiful skin”, and the quest to achieve true outer beauty starts from inner health. To achieve inner health, Amanda discovered that RE:ERTH places emphasis on the absorption of good ingredients with their Elixir because “it helps to break down all the good ingredients to aid the penetration and absorption better so our skin receives optimal results,” said Ziling.

Follow Amanda’s journey as she explores the benefits of self-care through scent and skincare in the third episode of Chic in the City – “Glowing Inside and Out” here or on the VisitSingapore MY Facebook page.

Apart from just finding out how scent and skincare play a vital role in your self-care journey, there are  many other experiences to maintain and improve your overall health and well-being waiting to be discovered in Singapore.

As most of us practise a hectic lifestyle, we can get overwhelmed easily which takes a toll on our mental health. Hence, it is crucial for us to find ways to release and express so we can achieve a sense of mindfulness. A great way to express yourself is through art, as it is just you and the inanimate object at your disposal. You can perform a healthy release of everything that has weighed you down without judgment. Here are two ways you can embark on a fun art therapy in Singapore.

Start off with art and afternoon tea at Arteastiq, a boutique tea house with an art jam studio.
