Electrification of the New Era

Kuala Lumpur, 29th June 2022 – The 2022 Mazda MX-30 is Mazda’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV), developed for customers who don’t want to sacrifice driving pleasure when they purchase an electric car. A new addition to Mazda’s car line-up, the MX-30 is Mazda’s third new-generation model, the first two being the Mazda3 and Mazda CX-30. Aiming to offer an experience that lets customers relax and be themselves and deepens the bond between car and owner, the Mazda MX-30 offers a creative time and space that invites new ways of using a vehicle.

Bermaz Motor Trading Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for the Mazda brand in Malaysia, is proud to announce that the All-New Mazda MX-30 is now officially available for booking with a starting price of RM 198,780.00.

With the debut of the All-New Mazda3 back in 2019 that marked the beginning of a new phase of Kodo—Soul of Motion design, under the Car-as-Art ethos, Mazda designers are striving to expand the expressive range of Kodo Design and enhance the artistic value of car design. For the Mazda MX-30, the design team sought to retain a beautiful, handcrafted form like previous Mazda vehicles for the base design while also exploring new looks that are more in touch with emerging values and lifestyles. This process resulted in the MX-30 design.

As Mazda takes pride itself on its craftsmanship and blending complex, quality materials to develop an elegant interior. In the MX-30, a new floating center console and the door grips use cork, one of the most highly renewable and eco-friendly resources that also pays homage to Mazda's origin as a cork manufacturing company more than 100 years ago. Both of these materials are designed to be low-impact and sustainable. The door trim uses fibers that are made from recycled plastic bottles and the cork is harvested from the bark of trees without felling.

In-line with the human-centric philosophy, Mazda engineers were determined to deliver the same Jinba-Ittai driving joy that every Mazda offers in the Mazda MX-30 as well with the newly developed technologies such as the SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture that helps to improve great driving dynamics and experience. The “2020 Red Dot Design” winner also adopts Mazda’s new electric-drive technology, e-SKYACTIV that combines outstanding response with smooth dynamic behaviour to achieve performance that drivers can enjoy naturally.  The Mazda MX-30 provides a very natural and responsive driving sense when accelerating, turning and braking as you intend in everyday driving situations. A front-wheel drive powertrain technology delivers an output of 107 kW (143 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 271 Nm.

In terms of charging, based on studies about charging facilities for EVs around the world, and Mazda’s human-centric design philosophy, the charging port was positioned on the rear fender, which allows charging to be done while maintaining a natural standing posture. There is also an indicator built into the charging port that indicates the charging status of the vehicle. To eliminate any worries on the part of customers about electric shocks or system failures while charging their cars, a cap on the charging port protects it from rain and dust intrusion. Mazda MX-30 owners will have options to stay charged, whether at home or while traveling around through the AC charger or DC fast charging solutions. The 35.5kWh battery can be charged up to 80% within 36 minutes using the DC fast charging of 40 kW.

In terms of safety, Mazda Proactive Safety is the philosophy that guides all of Mazda’s safety performance research and development. With safety fundamentals such as driving position at its core, this philosophy drives ongoing efforts to continue evolving Mazda’s advanced i-Activsense active safety technologies and passive safety features. It of course applies equally and fully to the MX-30. Mazda’s i-Activsense Advanced Safety Technology features such as Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Driver Attention Alert (DAA) with Driver Monitoring, Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) comes as standard in both the variants. The Mazda MX-30 High variant gets additional Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), as well as Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS) feature.

Available colors for the 2022 Mazda MX-30 include Polymetal Gray and Machine Gray for the Single color and as for the 2-Tone color includes Jet Black Mica (with silver roof pillar), Zircon Sand (with black roof) and Soul Red Crystal (with black roof).

The 2022 Mazda MX-30 is CBU from Japan and with the selling price that starts from RM 198,780.00.  The Mazda MX-30 is now officially open for booking, and customers can pre-order the vehicle at the Mazda Glenmarie Flagship showroom. The Mazda MX-30 comes with a 5 years manufacturer warranty (or first 100,000km), whichever comes first. In addition, the Mazda MX-30 EV battery warranty coverage is up to 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first.

The Human Modern design concept behind the vehicle was the catalyst for a new approach to design and, as a result, a new direction for Kodo design as whole. Some of the new design elements this concept inspired were an exterior that has been meticulously sculpted into a simple shape that emphasizes the beauty of the car as a single, solid unit, and the freestyle doors that give the cabin a sense of lightness and freedom. In addition, the approachable feel of the exterior combines perfectly with the way the sculpted body captures light and creates an interior ambience that makes occupants feel as if they are “enveloped in a sense of airiness and openness.” Finally, there is also the use of unique materials all centered around the theme of sustainability.

The floating centre console features an electronic shifter with multi-function commander knob and shortcut buttons that allows the driver and passenger to safely operate the 8.8-inch Mazda Connect Infotainment system. The Mazda MX-30 is equipped with a 360º view monitor that provides an all-round view around the vehicle and the interior features fabric and leatherette seating equipped with 8-way power, 2-way lumbar adjustments and 2-position memory function for the owner. In addition, The Mazda MX-30 is equipped with a 12-speaker Bose® sound system which adopts Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system with a speaker layout that is meticulously designed in accordance with the human listening characteristics

The Mazda MX-30 uses an electric motor and a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which gives a driving range of approximately 199km. The MX-30 adopts a refrigerant cooling system that cools the battery pack when the temperature rises. By maintaining the best possible battery temperature even on hot days, the system helps protect the battery pack from heat. Thin cooling tubes attached to the bottom plane of the battery module make contact with a heat exchanger. This structure contributes to realizing a compact battery pack. A sensor constantly monitors the battery’s temperature and controls the flow of coolant as needed. The result is an effective battery cooling system. Cooperative control between the air-conditioning and battery cooling systems achieves effective cooling performance for both systems.

In the MX-30, Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control (GVC), which uses the powertrain to improve chassis performance, has evolved into e-GVC Plus, which leverages the torque characteristics of the electric motor to optimize the front-rear load shift under an even wider range of usage scenarios. For every speed range and in every driving situation, whether the driver is cornering or making steering corrections on straight roads, the system achieves smooth and seamless transitions between longitudinal, latitudinal and vertical G-forces to deliver a whole new dimension of smooth vehicular behavior.
