With its purist design emphasising surfaces, the A-Class Sedan pleases all senses at the same time, and thereby is a seamless fit with the design idiom of Sensual Purity. This includes the clear formal shapes emphasising surface areas with reduced lines and precise gaps. The new A-Class Sedan has the proportions of a dynamic and compact sedan car with short front and rear overhangs.
The interior of the new A-Class Sedan maintains its modern, avant-garde look. Mercedes-Benz has taken a new approach, revolutionising the compact class from the inside with a new feeling of spaciousness. The unique interior architecture is shaped in particular by the avant-garde design of the dashboard: The designers completely dispensed with a cowl above the cockpit. As a result, the wing-shaped main body of the dashboard extends from one front door to the other with no visual discontinuity. The air vents in a sporty turbine look are another highlight.

Priced at RM 219,888* and RM 249,888* respectively, the new A-Class Sedan offers great utility that includes above-average shoulder, elbow and headroom plus easy access to the rear. The boot opening is very large with a width of 950 mm and a diagonal of 462 mm between lock and lower edge of the rear window. This allows comfortable loading and unloading, even of larger luggage items.
The engine portfolio of the A-Class Sedan is efficient and powerful, with the A 200 Progressive Line running on a 1.33 litre engine generating 163 horsepower while the A 250 AMG Line on a 2.0 litre engine, generates greater performance of 224 horsepower. The new A-Class Sedan is available in Polar White, Cosmos Black, Mountain Grey, Iridium Silver and Denim Blue featuring a carbon fibre-look trim for the A 200 Progressive Line and a light linear-grain aluminium trim for the A 250 AMG Line.
Kuala Lumpur, 28th October 2021 – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) today introduces the new locally assembled A-Class Sedan and Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV, strengthening its local footprint in Malaysia. Setting standards in the local automotive segment, the vehicles will be available in two variants, namely the A 200 Progressive Line, the A 250 AMG Line, the GLA 200 Progressive Line and the GLA 250 AMG Line.
Michael Jopp, VP of Sales and Marketing, Passenger cars at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said “These two new additions to our local production line are testament of our commitment to further expand our local foothold and increased investment in the local automotive sector. Both the A-Class and GLA are our success and best-selling models and we are excited to announce that they will now be locally assembled at Pekan, Pahang. We believe that this expansion will continue to strengthen our local offerings as we strive to provide our customers the very best of premium and luxury German engineering.”
Two equipment lines are available: The GLA 200 is equipped in Progressive Line with 18-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels while the GLA 250 is equipped with AMG Line bodystyling and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels. The AMG Line enhances the attractive, sporty presence of the vehicle with lowered and dynamically tuned suspension to intensify driving experience.
The new GLA offers a spacious interior. This particularly benefits the legroom in the rear and luggage compartment. The seating position for both the driver and the front passenger is higher and more upright than in the predecessor model, and thus more typical of an SUV.

The height-adjustable load floor offers considerable variability. When the rear seat backrests are folded down and the load floor is in the upper position, an almost flat loading area extending to the front seats can be created.
Utility value was, in general, one of the focuses of development. There is plenty of room for one or two people in the rear since these backrest variants come with a 40:60 split. The rear seat back rest can be split 40:20:40, with each section folding down individually.
